The FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) is the official stepping stone between national Formula 4 series and the international FIA Formula 3 Championship. In 2026, the series enters a new era with full FIA support, the brand-new Tatuus T-326 chassis powered by Toyota engines on Pirelli tyres.
The 2026 calendar features 8 events across some of Europe's most iconic circuits: the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, the Hungaroring, Paul Ricard, Imola and Hockenheim. The format combines traditional two-race weekends with new three-race events featuring reversed grids — designed to prepare drivers for the FIA Formula 3 format.
For Andrea, this season represents the final critical stepping stone before the global F3, F2 and F1 championships. With Van Amersfoort Racing — one of the most decorated junior teams in European motorsport, founded by Frits van Amersfoort — Andrea benefits from a top-tier technical structure and a long heritage of developing future Formula 1 talent.

The team has launched the careers of dozens of professional drivers, with multiple championship titles in Formula 3 and Formula Regional. Based in Zeewolde (Netherlands), VAR is renowned for its meticulous engineering approach and driver mentorship.
For 2026, FREC introduces the second-generation Formula Regional car, the Tatuus T-326. Equipped with a Toyota engine producing approximately 270 hp, the chassis features reduced aerodynamic downforce compared to the FR-19 — placing greater emphasis on driver skill, racecraft and precision. Pirelli supplies the control tyres for the entire grid.
